O God our defender, storms rage around and within us and cause us to be afraid. Rescue your people from despair, deliver your sons and daughters from fear, and preserve us in the faith of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
22Immediately [Jesus] made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side [of the Sea of Galilee], while he dismissed the crowds. 23And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them. 25And early in the morning he came walking toward them on the sea. 26But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear. 27But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, "Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid."
28Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." 29He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. 30But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" 32When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."

Invest in a reusable water bottle. Cut down on plastic by carrying your own water bottle with you. Preferably a reusable one made of aluminum rather than plastic. You will find that you save money by bringing your own water instead of buying new bottles every time you are thirsty.
This year's annual "Blessing of the Backpacks" will be virtual, so no additional touch will be necessary. Bring your school backpacks to drive-in worship on Sunday, August 16, and the usual blessing ceremony will be included in the service. Participants will remain in their cars for the blessing.
The OSLC Mission Committee will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Saturday, August 15 from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. The blood drive will be located in the Fellowship Hall.
For a limited time, the American Red Cross will test all blood, platelet, and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies as an additional health service. This testing may provide critical insight into whether donors may have possibly been exposed to this coronavirus. The Red Cross is committed to helping others in meaningful ways during this pandemic. This is not a test to diagnose COVID-19. The results of your antibody test will be available by logging in to your Blood Donor account on the Blood Donor App or online about 7 to 10 days after your donation. More information can be found on the the church website.
The Mission committee is continuing to collect food that will be shared between Safe Harbor and the Midwest Food Bank. We are collecting the following items:
There is a box just inside the church entrance where you can deposit items. Please do not take items to Megan or Pastor Henrick's office.
