Almighty God, by grace alone you call us and accept us in your service. Strengthen us by your Spirit, and make us worthy of your call, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
14Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God,
15and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.
16As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea—for they were fishermen.
17And Jesus said to them, Follow me and I will make you fish for people.
18And immediately they left their nets and followed him.
19As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets.
20Immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, and followed him.

On February 14, the last Sunday before Lent and the day we recognize those close to our hearts, OSLC will recognize Kent Sunderland and Lisa Alvis for 30 years of service each! We ask that you help us celebrate the occasion with a card shower. Please send cards to Kent and Lisa in care of the church office, and we will present them collectively at that time.
Annual Giving Statements for 2020 are available for pickup at the church.
The Church Council this week approved the removal of two trees in front of the church due to their age, health, and potential hazard to the church and members gathered here. They include the large tree nearest to the front door of the church, which recently dropped a limb on the church roof.
The Mission Committee has been contacted by Safe Harbor (the Salvation Army) to say that they are in need of child-size coats. If anyone has any that are new or gently used and clean, please drop them at the church, and someone from the Mission Committee will make sure they get to Safe Harbor.
The OSLC Mission Committee will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Saturday, February 6 from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. The blood drive will be located in the fellowship hall. More information can be found on the church website.
The Church Council voted at last month's meeting to delay the 2021 Annual Meeting, normally held at the end of January, until such a time when, based on CDC guidelines, the Council feels it is safe to hold the meeting. Until that time, current Council members will continue in their roles, and the church will operate on an extension of the current year's budget. Please talk to a Council member if you have concerns about this.
The Mission committee is continuing to collect food that will be shared between Safe Harbor and the Midwest Food Bank. We are collecting the following items:
There is a box just inside the church entrance where you can deposit items. Please do not take items to Megan or Pastor Henrick's office.
