Holy God, through your Son you have called us to live faithfully and act courageously. Keep us steadfast in your covenant of grace, and teach us the wisdom that comes only through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
17When it was evening, [Jesus] came with the twelve.
18And when they had taken their places and were eating, Jesus said,
Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me.
19They began to be distressed and to say to him one after another,
Surely, not I?
20He said to them,
It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread into the bowl with me.
21For the Son of Man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that one by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that one not to have been born.
22While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said,
Take; this is my body.
23Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, and all of them drank from it.
24He said to them,
This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.
25Truly I tell you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
26When they had sung the hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
27And Jesus said to them,
You will all become deserters; for it is written,
I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered.
But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.
29Peter said to him,
Even though all become deserters, I will not.
30Jesus said to him,
Truly I tell you, this day, this very night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.
31But he said vehemently,
Even though I must die with you, I will not deny you. And all of them said the same.

Sanctuary Worship has resumed in a modified form starting today, March 7. Up to 50 people will be allowed in the sanctuary with social distancing, masks, and temperature checks required, but the service will continue to be broadcast to the parking lot over 88.7 fm on the radio. Communion packets will be available on first Sundays (including today) to all participants both in the sanctuary and in the parking lot.
The 2021 Annual Meeting will be held in the sanctuary after Sunday service (approximately 9:45 a.m.) on March 14. There will be no forums, but the Annual Report will be available for pick up at the church no later than March 7. Due to covid limitations, participation allowed into the sanctuary will be capped at 50 with reservations needed. Sign up online via SignUpGenius or contact the church office if you plan to attend.
Not only is next weekend the Annual Meeting, it is also the weekend we switch to Daylight Saving Time. Remember to turn your clocks forward an hour Saturday night, or you might find yourselft arriving at church during the Annual Meeting having missed the worship service altogether!
There are several coats left on the coat rack. Since we have not been in the church, they have gone unnoticed and unclaimed. Please check and see if any of these coats belong to you. If still unclaimed by Easter, they will be donated.
It's not too late to add the Lenten Prayer & Roundtable Discussion to your Lenten practices. This year, Wednesday night Lenten worship takes place by teleconference at 6 p.m., following a fixed liturgy posted on the website (it can also be mailed to you) with weekly readings and discussion. If you would like to be included for the remaining Wednesdays in Lent, contact the church office for call-in information.
We are getting several notices from members that have tried to reach other members using phone numbers listed in our directory only to find the number is no longer in service. If you or a member you are in touch with has discontinued a land line or changed cell phone numbers, please be sure to let the church office know. If this year has taught us nothing else, it is how much we need to stay in touch with each other.
The Mission committee will start collecting personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief during Lent. The kits include the following items:
These items can be put in the baskets in the narthex used for food collection. Committee members will sort the items.
The Mission committee is continuing to collect food that will be shared between Safe Harbor and the Midwest Food Bank. We are collecting the following items:
There is a box just inside the church entrance where you can deposit items. Please do not take items to Megan or Pastor Henrick's office.
